united towards a single purpose

More than ever before, it’s not enough to go about our day-to-day, clock in, clock out. We need purpose in life.

We as employees don’t feel fulfilled if we don’t feel like we are contributing to a greater good, and we as companies don’t feel accomplished if we don’t stand for something more important than, well, just increasing the bottom line.

Humans want to do good. It gives us meaning in life. It makes us feel like we are having an impact. So what causes are near and dear to you? If it’s the same as ours, it is…

breaking the stigma of addiction and mental health.

Why should we break the stigma?

  • 35 million people worldwide suffer from drug use disorders, only 1 in 7 people receive treatment

  • 21% of U.S. adults experienced mental illness in 2020 (52.9 million people), representing every 1 in 5 adults

  • 5.6% of U.S. adults experienced serious mental illness in 2020 (14.2 million people), representing 1 in 20 adults.

That means that you probably know someone struggling with addiction or mental illness, but they don’t feel comfortable talking about it.

By breaking the stigma, more people will look for help. More people will find hope. More people will find help for addiction, mental health issues, and avoid homelessness, or even worse, suicide.

Here at The Walker Center…

One of our main objectives is to break the stigma of addiction and mental health by having conversations, connecting individuals with resources, and providing the help, hope, and healing needed to have a healthy body and mind.

How living spaces Affect Mental Health

  • The four walls around us can greatly affect our attitude and mindset. Living space can directly impact mood and anxiety.

  • Not being comfortable in a living space can make one feel like there is no place to recover from life. Optimizing your space for mental health is not only important but necessary for maintaining a positive state of well-being.

  • Our clients that have finally found the courage to seek treatment spend time in their rooms thinking, journaling, and practicing new recovery techniques.

  • As a non-profit, our funds are limited. Last year, we gave everyone a raise in order to stay competitive and cover costs of living/rising inflation.

  • Will you invest in our clients? We are relying on community partners to help us revamp the rooms, making them more enjoyable and conducive to positive mental health & recovery.
