A Letter From the CEO: Thanks to Jason at Brick House Recovery

A Letter From the CEO: Thanks to Jason at Brick House Recovery

Jason Coombs, owner of Brick House Recovery is an exceptional human being who demonstrates what it means to live a fully authentic life. Jason is a man in long-term recovery.  He is a charismatic person who truly believes that addicts can fully recover because Jason is a walking example of this accomplishment.  His struggles from addiction, with all its devastation (living on the streets, homelessness, incarceration) to the struggles of early recovery and then onto long-term recovery inspires everyone.

Jason is non-judgmental of those struggling with the disease of addiction as he knows about the struggles of relapse and early recovery, including five inpatient treatment centers, living in his parents’ basement, and having to rebuild devastated relationships. Recovery is regaining trust in yourself and then having others trust you again. It's freeing yourself from guilt and shame, finding meaning and purpose in your life, then using your true potential to thrive! Jason found his purpose in helping others struggling with addiction.

I was honored to meet Jason about 8 years ago when he was just opening his treatment center.  I was inspired as my passion in life is to help others live a fully authentic life. I have worked over 30 years to help people struggling to break the stigma of addiction and set themselves free from guilt and shame.  My awareness is that healing occurs when hope is offered, and the outcome is finding your true potential and thriving. I saw this in Jason as I got to know him more.  I saw his ability to be tenacious and his excitement and determination to break down barriers, all fueled by his naiveness about how system barriers can cause roadblocks. He inspired me as he just focused on what he wanted – treatment opportunities for all. We agreed on this goal.

I have been working for 30 years to reduce the stigma associated with addiction and mental health issues. I have been honored to work on state and local boards as an expert in the field. The progress to break stigma can be slow. Jason inspired me through his transparency and his genuine desire to connect with all people.  He fueled my passion through his openness to share his journey to recovery. Everyone can grow and change and everyone deserves the opportunity.

Jason was honored this year at the Inspire Excellence Awards luncheon, sponsored by BVA, for his outstanding community service. The Walker Center shared his honor as Jason donated $1,000 to the Walker Center as his non-profit charity of choice. We can now provide additional services through hope, help, and healing.

As Jason shared, the Latin origin of the word Inspire means to breathe life into someone. Jason makes a difference. He helps me by re-invigorating my heart and desires to continue to be the best leader in the field as I endeavor to bust the stigma of addiction and the devastation of mental health issues. Jason, you strive every day to be the best person you can be and you inspire me to be the best version of myself.  I am honored to call Jason my friend and colleague and am grateful to know that I have a partner in offering excellent treatment options with Jason and the Brick House Recovery team.
