Upon admission, the client is seen by a member of the medical team led by Medical Director, Reid Lofgran, DO, a Certified Addictionologist, for a medical assessment.
Dr. Lofgran makes all the medical decisions for the residents at the Center. Upon admission, vital signs are monitored and a Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment (CIWA) is completed if necessary. After the initial evaluation, any necessary medications are placed in lockup and are taken by the resident under the supervision of a member of the treatment team. The resident enters treatment activities as soon as initial assessment is completed, during the first day of residency. Laboratory work is available, if indicated by medical assessment. Additional medical care will be recommended according to individual needs. These services are optional and it is the client’s responsibility to pay for them.
The Walker Center has a medically supported and clinically managed residential withdrawal management program for those who are physically able to participate in the program and take their own detoxification medications with supervision. Dr. Lofgran will prescribe medications as needed. If acute medical needs arise the client can seek care at North Canyon Medical Center at the client’s own expense. NCMC is a medical-surgical facility that is located near the Walker Center and is available to Center residents as medical conditions warrant.
Individualized Treatment Plan
The treatment team meets to develop an individualized treatment plan with input from the client and primary counselor, which may be redefined or added to on a daily or weekly basis. The team consists of the Medical Director , LPN, LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), Director pf Clinical Services and Performance, primary counselor and the client. The primary counselor is responsible for the documentation and implementation of the treatment plan and meets with the resident on a regular basis to review the resident’s progress on completing the goals of the treatment plan.
