Withdrawal Management

Withdrawal Management

The Walker Center offers a medically supported and clinically managed residential withdrawal management program which provides 24 hour per day supervision, observation and support for person who is intoxicated or experiencing withdrawal as part of our residential program.

Our Medical Director carries a certification as an Addictionologist by the American Society of Addiction Medicine and specializes in family practice medicine. A physician is available to assess the client within 24 hours of admission and is available along with physician assistants to provider further evaluation as needed. The program is staffed to supervise self-administration of medications based on clinical protocols with appropriate laboratory and toxicology tests conducted. There is availability of specialized clinical consultations for biomedical, emotional, behavioral and cognitive problems. Procedures are in place to determine when a transfer is medically warranted.

Our goal is to safely help clients who may experience withdrawal effects while detoxing from alcohol, benzodiazepines (Ativan, Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, etc.), or opiates (heroin, Oxycontin, Norco, Vicodin, etc.). Medications are used to help keep clients safe while, at the same time, lessening some of the unpleasant symptoms of withdrawal. Our staff will closely monitor clients throughout this detoxification period.
