The Walker Center did an excellent job during my stay and more importantly referred me to an excellent Sober Living afterward.

I stayed in the Walker Center from December 2006 to January 2007.
This is a step that will change your life... It changed mine. But you've got to be ready and willing to change everything about your life. When I say everything, I mean everything. Old friends, old habits, etc... everything. I wasn't for a period of time after the Walker Center. I was on the fast track to prison for multiple DUI. However, in part because of the tools the Walker Center gave me, my life changed drastically when I finally hit that point (we call that rock bottom). I knew what was needed, I knew where to go, and I went there.
The most important thing in this process, for me, is my relationship with God and Christ. This is why God is mentioned in half of the 12 steps, because He's the most important part, but what goes along with that is a necessary humbling and accountability. I'm not only powerless over alcohol, I'm powerless over my own sinful desires. My very default nature is to sin, along with every other human. In the program you will watch a movie about how Alcoholics Anonymous started (at least I think they're still doing that). The program was formed around a relationship with God, do not neglect or wash over this part of the steps.
Thank you Walker Center! While I'm not your poster child, I certainly learned so many invaluable tools from you. You guys are great! Keep on keepin on!

Three and half years after leaving the Center I can say with out reservation, my worst day in my recovery (and there have been some) is a 1000% better than my best day in my addiction. Now that the monkey off my back doesn’t mean the circus has left town, so I will keep coming back because it works if I work it and it won’t if you don’t.

It has been over 2 years since my time at The Walker Center. If it was not for the things I learned from my friends at the center, I would not be clean today. They taught me how to manage my chronic pain without the need of pain med's. I was a lost soul when if found The Walker Center and they helped me find my life and soul again. God does live and he loves me for who I am..

I went through The Walker Center Inpatient Program in July 2001. They gave me the support and help I needed to begin a journey into recovery. There I learned tools that I still use on a daily basis today. Eight years ago I could not imagine staying clean but due to things I learned while at the Walker Center I enjoy a life I could not even imagine.

I was at the Walker Center November/December of 2006. I was scared to death to go to rehab and scared to death not to. My experience there was a blessing. The staff and counselors were outstanding. They gave me the tools I needed to begin to live a better life...and now I do.
